Before we starting rooting our device we will make sure that our desktop or laptop has been installed with Android SDK.For all this you have to navigate to Android Development team official web page and DOWNLOAD it.

STEPS TO ROOT SAMSUNG GALAXY NEXUX : -
1.Download CLOCKWORKMOD RECOVERY IMAGE and SUPERUSER PACKAGE and save them on your computer.2.Power off your Galaxy Nexus and boot into Recovery mode by pressing both volume and Power button.
3.Connect your Galaxy Nexux to PC via USB cabel.
4.Launch the command prompt and type fastboot oem unlock and press enter.
5.Now type fastboot flash recovery-clockwork-5.5.0.4-toro.img and press enter.
6.Finish this step by typing adb push su.zip/sdcard/
7.Your Galaxy Nexux will automatically prompted into recovery mode.Now choose Install Zip from SD Card,continue with choose Zip from SD card, and select the su.zip file
8.Your phone will reboot automatically.Normally,it will take up to 10 minutes before your phone finally Awakes at the home screen.
